Earl Bane Scholarship

The Earl Bane Scholarship recognizes and honors the hard work and distinguished business career of Earl Bane.  Mr. Bane was a driving force behind the development of Dairy Queen franchises in Kansas during the 1950s and 1960s.  Due to limited financial means, college was not an option for him, but he believed strongly in giving young people the opportunity to continue their education after high school.

We recognize not every student’s path looks the same.  Some soar through academics with ease, while others discover their strengths through persistence, grit, and determination.  The Earl Bane Scholarship was created to recognize and support graduating seniors who have proven they are dedicated, hardworking, and ready to take the next step in their education.  We believe success isn’t measured only by a GPA – it is shown through effort, perseverance, and a commitment to keep moving forward, just as Mr. Bane moved through his life and career.  This scholarship honors students who give their best, overcome challenges, and set their sights on a brighter future.

Ten $2,500 scholarships will be awarded to seniors graduating from high schools in Saline County (including persons obtaining an equivalent degree at the Adult Education Center).  The scholarship is renewable for up to 7 additional semesters, with a potential total worth of $20,000 ($2,500 per semester).  The scholarship can be used only toward undergraduate degrees at colleges within the state of Kansas, and must be used within the 5 year period following high school graduation.
