AIM (Aviation, Innovation, and Maintenance) Program

The Salina Area of Chamber has partnered with the Salina Airport Authority to create a pre-apprenticeship program called the Aviation Innovation Maintenance (AIM) Center of Excellence. This first-of-its-kind, six-week program introduces students to a gratifying career in the aviation maintenance industry. Students receive hands-on training from experienced instructors that will help them learn about the fields of sheet metal, paint, composites, and electronics. During the sixth week, students will tour the facilities of industry partners, receive information about continuing their education or a career in aviation maintenance, and have a chance to network with potential employers. Upon completion of the program, students are celebrated with a graduation ceremony and will receive micro-credentials through Kansas State University – Salina. These are certifications that one may put on their resume to take with them to future employment or schooling opportunities. This program is for anyone ages 16+ whether they have experience in the aviation world, or they’ve never picked up a tool in their life. Right now, the program is being offered at a very low cost of $200.00. We work closely with Kansas WorkforceOne and CAPS to help folks who may not be able to afford the program due to several barriers that may stand in their way. We run several cohorts throughout the year. Typically, the summer cohorts work best for high school students. Our next summer cohort will be offered from July 7-August 15, 2025. One of my 2025 goals is to physically get in front of the youth and encourage them to try this program. To learn more about the AIM program, please visit https://www.imaginesalina.com/aim/. If you have any questions at all, please reach out! Thanks! Jaclyn Crow 785-827-9310 jcrow@salinakansas.org
