Ell-Saline eSports Earns 3–0 Sweep Over Oxford Jr./Sr. High
The Ell-Saline High School eSports team delivered a dominant performance this week in KSHSAA Super Smash Bros. Ultimate competition, earning a clean 3–0 victory over Oxford Jr./Sr. High. Each Cardinal competitor secured a 2–0 sweep, showcasing depth, preparation, and strong teamwork across the lineup.
Senior Porter Bell opened the match and immediately set the tone. Playing his main, Bowser, Bell controlled the matchup against Oxford’s Captain Falcon, winning both games to give Ell-Saline an early lead.
Next, Beka took the stage for her eSports debut. Competing with Pikachu, Beka faced Oxford’s Joker and delivered an impressive performance, sweeping the set 2–0. Her confident debut extended Ell-Saline’s lead and highlighted the growing depth of the Cardinals’ roster.
Eli Flores closed out the match, selecting King K. Rool against Oxford’s Little Mac/Sora player. Flores remained composed throughout the set, securing two decisive wins to complete the sweep and seal the team victory.
With three straight 2–0 set wins, Ell-Saline claimed a flawless 3–0 match victory. The performance reflects the team’s continued growth and momentum as the season progresses, as well as the successful integration of new players into competitive roles.
