Worms! Worms! Worms!

6th Grade has been learning about how different systems interact to enable structural and supportive body functions. After learning more about how the human body works using muscles, joints and ligaments, they examined how earthworms are able to move even though they do not have a skeleton. Worms move using a hydro static skeleton, where fluid inside their body provides structure. They alternate contracting circular and longitudinal muscles to create wave-like motions that propel them forward.
